A l’heure où cette nouvelle édition de la lettre d’information du LabEx P2IO est prête à être diffusée intervient l’annonce du prix Nobel de physique 2013, décerné à F. Englert et P. Higgs, « for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider ». Une excellente nouvelle, qui réjouit bien entendu les laboratoires de P2IO fortement impliqués dans la recherche du boson de Higgs depuis ses débuts, mais également dans la construction du LHC et des détecteurs ATLAS et CMS !
