The research projects within the Energy and Environment pole (EE) tackle fundamental questions of interest for the development, among others, of nuclear energy. They combine diversity and complementarity with the study of key problematics for the future:

  • Nuclear energy: physicochemical properties, establishment of various energy scenarios, study of new fuels, development of inovative treatments for nuclear waste and transmutation, research on the nuclear fission
  • Actinides: recycling, physicochemical properties in condensed phase, speciation
  • Comportment of materials within irradiation: study of the environment/radioactive materials interaction, development of new materials for the electronuclear cycle and fusion, experimental simulation of irradiation effects in solids

Thanks to its unique experimental infrastructures, the EE pole can work on fundamental and applied thematics. The irradiation and caracterisation platform JANNuS-SCALP is a perfect example, as well as the "Hot chemistry" building, dedicated to experimental activities on actinides.
