The Systems Engineering Department (DIS) is a mechanical engineering and instrumentation department structured in different labs, dealing with mechanical engineering, electronics, control system, power electronics and instrumentation.

Dis not only design and procures warm and cryogenic elements for particle accelerators but also control systems of such equipment. It is specialized in the design of superconductive magnets and related cryogenic infrastructures in the domain of thermal and mechanical engineering, the specific control systems and power circuits and the associated quench protection systems.

It also have developed competences in space and ground activities for astrophysics through specific tools and methods in mechanical engineering, electronics and instrumentation. DIS is involved in many diversified projects such as:

  • the development of prototype magnets for the LHC's energy rise
  • the project management of a complete accelerator system for various international collaborations such as FAIR or ESS
  • the mechanical architecture and the control-command of detectors such as Clas12 and Stereo
